Your child should refrain from eating ice or hard candy.  This tends to fracture the sealant.  Normal retention of a sealant is up to 4 years.  Our policy is to touch up and replace all sealants that we have placed free of charge.  At your child’s recall appointment we will check to see that the sealants we have placed are still intact and if they need to be replaced.    Prevention is the key to having good dental health.
